We use this site to take rental applications. We do not sell your details.

Facebook Instant Forms

If you apply via our Facebook Page Instant Form, Facebook sends us your name, email, and phone. We use that only so Direct Car Imports Limited staff can follow up your long-term car rental enquiry. We store it in our staff system. We do not sell it. We do not share it with other businesses.

What we collect

Name, email, phone, and any message you send on Apply or Facebook. When you apply on this website, we also receive how you found us (see below). We do not sell your details. We do not share them with other businesses, except Meta as explained under Cookies and Meta Pixel. Privacy Act 2020.

How you found us

When you arrive on this site from an ad or a link, this site remembers in your browser, for up to 30 days, where you came from: the campaign tags in the link (for example which ad or post it was), the Facebook click ID and Meta Pixel browser ID if there are any, the page you landed on, the website that sent you, and when. If you apply, we send those details with your application and keep them with your enquiry in our staff system, so we can see which ads and posts lead to rental enquiries and rentals. We use this only to measure Direct Car Imports Limited’s own advertising. We do not sell it or share it with other businesses. If you do not apply, it stays in your browser and is not sent to us. You can remove it by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

Cookies and Meta Pixel

When our Meta (Facebook) Pixel is switched on, Meta may set cookies or similar technology on your device and receive signals about page visits and whether an Apply was completed. We use that only for analytics and ads measurement for Direct Car Imports Limited’s long-term car rental. We do not sell your personal information. Personal information you send on Apply or Facebook Instant Forms is still handled as set out above under the Privacy Act 2020.

You can control Meta ads preferences and opt out of interest-based advertising via Meta’s tools: facebook.com/settings?tab=ads and Meta’s privacy centre. You can also clear cookies in your browser. Privacy questions: Geoff@Directcars.co.nz.

When you browse our public pages and when an Apply succeeds, this site loads Meta Pixel tracking code for that measurement.

How to access, correct, or delete your data

Email Geoff@Directcars.co.nz from the address you applied with and ask us to access, correct, or delete your application data. We will do that unless New Zealand law requires us to keep a record. We may disclose information if the Police or a regulator lawfully requires it.

Facebook and Messenger

If you message one of our Facebook Pages or fill in a Facebook form, we receive your name, your Facebook user ID for our Page, and what you send us (for example your email, phone number and message). We use this only to reply to you, answer questions about renting a car, and keep a record of your enquiry in our customer system. We send one automatic welcome reply and a few short automatic answers; a staff member handles everything else. Messages sent through Facebook are also handled by Meta under its own privacy policy. We don't sell your information.

To ask what we hold about you, or to correct it, email geoff@directcars.co.nz or message us on Facebook. We'll respond within 20 working days, as the Privacy Act 2020 requires.

To have your Facebook enquiry deleted, email geoff@directcars.co.nz or message us on Facebook with 'delete my data'. We'll delete it from our customer system and tell you when that's done. If we have to keep some records (for example because you have rented a car from us, money is owed, or the law requires us to keep them), we'll tell you what we're keeping and why.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
